Denney Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 I don't know if anyone will use this but I decided to integrate the Adaptec ASPI v4.71.2 drivers into my Windows XP installation. This will allow you to run programs like VCDEasy, DDump and other CD related programs that require an ASPI layer to be installed.Follow these steps to integrate ASPI into your installation:1. Add the following to the end of DOSNET.INF:[Files]d1,winaspi.dlld1,wowpost.exed1,wnaspi32.dlld1,aspi32.sys2. Add the following to the end of TXTSETUP.SIF:[SourceDisksFiles]winaspi.dll = 1,,,,,,,5,0,0wowpost.exe = 1,,,,,,,5,0,0wnaspi32.dll = 1,,,,,,,2,0,0aspi32.sys = 1,,,,,,,4,0,03. Add the following to the end of HIVESYS.INF:[AddReg]HKLM,SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASPI32,ErrorControl,0x00010001,0x00000001HKLM,SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASPI32,Start,0x00010001,0x00000001HKLM,SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASPI32,Type,0x00010001,0x00000001HKLM,SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASPI32\Parameters,ExcludeMiniPorts,0x00000000,""4. Download the attached ASPI.ZIP file and extract it to your I386 directory.Done.ASPI.zip
Bâshrat the Sneaky Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Nice guide! Also this app needs ASPI drivers: ClonyXXL
SiMoNsAyS Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 (edited) nice 1, i'll forget my way of installation using cmdlines.txt ePSXe (PSX emulator) needs them tooedit: a question, would this mess with nLite shrinkage?? (i have read somewhere in the forum that integrating SATA drivers yes...) Edited August 16, 2004 by SiMoNsAyS
benners Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 All I have ever done is add the nero version of WNASPI32.DLL to $OEM$\$$\System32 and CDR-Win has run ok for me
Denney Posted August 16, 2004 Author Posted August 16, 2004 @SiMoNsAyS: Nup. Won't screw with nLite at all. I remove pretty much everything using nLite and this works flawlessly.@benners: My method does a true slipstream... Yours just copies files. Some programs will require the other files and the registry entries. Also, there is a difference between Nero ASPI and Adaptec ASPI and some programs will require the Adaptec one.
Diabolical82 Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 I think it should look like thisHKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASPI32","ErrorControl",0x00010001,0x00000001HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASPI32","Start",0x00010001,0x00000001HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASPI32","Type",0x00010001,0x00000001HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASPI32\Parameters","ExcludeMiniPorts",0x00000000,""but correct me if i'm wrong.
Denney Posted August 17, 2004 Author Posted August 17, 2004 @Diabolical82: The quotes are only required if there is a space contained in the string.None of those have spaces so the quotes are not needed.

Dolamite Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 man this is going to be sad if i have to hook up my old dialup (should still be active till the end of the month) to download these files...... when we just got satellite internet..... which apparently BLOWS...
Denney Posted October 14, 2004 Author Posted October 14, 2004 Hmm... strange... It still works for me... I've also had some mates try it and it works.
Dolamite Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 i just connected to my old earthlink dialup...... worked just fine.....which proves it's this filthy new satellite internet we have....but we just moved and theres no cable here... so it's our only broadband choice....i've noticed many things not working as they should.....any ideas? perhaps a proxy... but i don't know how you'd do that windows-wide and not just for a browser....guess this might need it's own topic in another forum....thanks for the response though rave.
