Viper999 Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 I am using cdimage pro to create an ISO. Can I write This iso to DVD or do I need to covert it to be compatible for DVD format ? I want the DVD to be bootable with my XP unaatedned stuff. Thaks in advance for any help you provide.
FPS|Howlin Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 I think as long as its an iso image, it dont matter what media u burn it on. Should work on dvd.
Agent-X Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 I make my iso using CDImage and simply burn the image using Nero, do select DVD of course
richsmif Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 There is a tool that comes with the server 2003 resource kit called dvdburn.exeor something like that but i'm sure thats correct.that will burn out the iso direct to DVD. Nero never really worked for me, could'nt get the DVD bootable.i use xpcreates ISO image and burn that directly to DVD. Works a treat
peachy Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I use Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 (don't snicker! it just works! ) to make bootable Joliet filesystem XP unattended/slipstreamed DVDs.
WwTIPPYwW Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 if you have created a bootable ISO - you can burn it to DVD or CD. Size of the ISO determines what you'll need to burn it to. As far as your computer knows - it is just a large CD. Don't confuse DVDs with movies - in this situation, it is just a large capacity cd.Also - suggest using DVD/RWs so you can update the DVD w/o using a lot of disks.
CoffeeFiend Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Nero never really worked for me, could'nt get the DVD bootable.Weird. I've never seen Nero fail at that (unless you don't follow the proper steps - but there's even a guide for that)
j4ever Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 does xp install any faster when using a dvd? like if someone wanted to waste their 4.7gb disc by burning a 690mb iso of xp on it, would their be the benefit of it installing any faster from a dvd driver rather than a cd driver?
ToBe Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 It depends on the hardware as a 1x DVD-ROM drive is the equivalent of an 8x CD-ROM drive, a 2x DVD-ROM drive is the equivalent of a 16x CD-ROM drive and so on.Taken from here:http://stream.uen.org/medsol/dvd/pages/dvd...at_DVDvsCD.html
