Phyridean
Aaargh!!Not until I understand what makes it so!That might take some time, even with the high quality explainers here at MSFN....Suffice it to say, that a lot of people can't even understand what people from boston are saying...for instance, my parents were once asked if their automatic transmission car was in the park gear...it came out more like:"Is y'r caa in paak?" utln
Different parts of the US have different accents. Boston tends to have a very strong accent. We replace R's with A's. Example, we pronounce "Winter" as "Wintah". If you ever meet someone from Boston, ask them to say, "park the car in the Harvard yard".
Phyridean
If you ever meet someone from Boston, ask them to say, "park the car in the Harvard yard".or rather..."paak teh caa in teh haavaad yaad"ouch ouch ouch...It's one of those like scottish people speaking english: it's really fun to listen to, but really hard to understand... mazin
In Boston, it was hard to me to understand that a shop assistant meant to say "battery". But it took me hours in NYC to understand that they meant to say "How are you doing?". Mostly, Americans have their own accent which could make you forget your English. prathapml
Nice diversity of languages we have here - but as expected, english is in the majority. Oh well, makes it easy for us to communicate amongst each other..
