crck3rz Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 HiIn my machine i have 2 network cards:Realtek 10/100 Intel 10/100The realtek connects the xbox to the pc so that i can transfer files two and from. The intel is used to connect an ADSL modem to the PC. The Xbox does not need to have internet access.Problem. I'm sure you will realise that i cannot use both network cards at the same time and therefore have to disable one. Is there someway i can have both enabled at the same time without it effecting what they both do. For example the Intel will always be used for my internet connection and the realtek will always be used for the xbox. The Realtek must have an IP stated in the TCP/IP settings, whereas the Intel card uses automatic detection.Any help greatly appreciated. If it helps im using windows xp pro SP1aNick
Phyridean Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Um, why can't you use both NICs at the same time?
crck3rz Posted July 30, 2004 Author Posted July 30, 2004 because when they are both enabled the internet stops functioning. And the ftp software WS_FTP 8 Pro always fails to find or connect to the xbox. However, if i disable the nic used for internet ftp works wonders. The same if i disable the nic for the xbox the internet works fine
Phyridean Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Can we have some more info? Protocols installed?IP addresses for both?IPX Frame type?etc, etc...
InterCeptor Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 I had the same problem. I have two NICs. One for our home LAN, where the router is located and one for LAN-parties, or when a friend wants to get some stuff from my pc.You have to create a network bridge to get them both working at the same time.To do this go to network connections, select your NICs and choose create network bridge from the context-menu.Now you have a network bridge, which can be configured like a normal network card and is now used instead of the both NICs.Hope that will solve your problem.

spud Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Can you enable the Intel NIC and do an IPCONFIG on that.I have a fealing that the auto config onit is assigning 192.168.0.2 which is why you can't use both at the same time.
crck3rz Posted July 31, 2004 Author Posted July 31, 2004 Ran IPconfig on Intel Nic, results:IP Address: 81.xxx.xx.10Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0Default Gateway: 81.xxx.xx.11changed gateway on xbox nic to same as above but as i expected no difference there.

roto Posted August 13, 2004 Posted August 13, 2004 Response to PRYRealtek NIC: Use the following IP address, which consists of:IP Address: 192.198.0.2 {this is the IP of the Xbox}Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1 {this is address given in IPCONFIG}Response to InterceptorTried creating a network bridge, rebooted machine and still had same problems as mentioned before hand. Thanks for all the helpOk... so if I understand what you're saying there, the nic and the xbox are set to use the same ip? That shouldn't be.I would check and if the xbox is using 192.168.0.1 with a mask of 255.255.255.0, make sure the realtek card is using 192.168.0.2 with the same mask. Also, remove the default gateway from the realtek card, you don't need it.
