Windows XP SP2 to destroy hard drives of pirates

Featured Replies

Text

But now Microsoft has armed itself with a huge list of illegal CD keys ensuring that not only does the SP2 not install, but also destroys the computer hard drive by rendering it unusable.

hope its BS, not that im using a pirated cd key or anything.............

Does anyone else think that that is the stupidest thing that they have ever heard??

Haha. what happened to their saying that they don't care if pirated users use sp2, so long as everyone installs sp2 for the higher security. I must say that quote posted above is a lot of bull. Sure they will disable numerous serial numbers....but destroy the user's harddrive???? Gimme a break

surely it would be better to secure all pc to stop virus and other attacks !

Nikhil, consider going on a vacation. I think, you need a break.

Microsoft is always fooled one way or the other, this time is no exception.

Heh some cracker will defeat those copy protections in about a month. I bet there will be tonnes of illigal SP2 machines soon after SP2 final is released.

Sorry, I have to disagree with you. I say 2 weeks. LOL!

by whocares from Anonymous on 12/07/04 10:49 PM

and I have to disagree with you both, it'll be on pirated copies before the official release date, in fact, no pre release version of sp2 has failed to install on this machine, I mean ****, what's a list of pirate keys compared to a keygen that creates valid keys?

by passive from Toronto on 13/07/04 04:09 AM

Sorry folks, not two weeks. Believe me - it's already done! ;-)

That what I call professional journalism. I also heard that WinXP SP2 will blow up your monitor and make your USB jacket shoot spark... *shake head* No seriously, anyone believing that installing this service pack will destroy your hard drive is an id***. Just think how many lawsuits MS would face if their service pack wipe a HD of a legitimate user by mistake...

by Tempest from Montreal on 12/07/04 08:08 PM

bah its easily fixed look for a keygen that does not generate a pid of 640 did so worked and i bet this post anyway gets censored hahah

by ansh from gujral on 12/07/04 07:32 PM

I am sure many people who had replied are themselves using pirated copies. :))

Pirated copies?? Is it true that there will exist a official version of Windows?

by Dr.Hagga from Germany on 13/07/04 04:29 AM

You didn't actually believe the article did you?

Even if Microsoft did implement such a thing, they would be out of business within a Month. They would run out of money from all the court cases. Sure it's pirated copies, but they only have to right to disable the use of the software, not the system.

If that is true, Microsoft will be in trouble, because Windows XP SP2 won't destroy the harddrive. and Microsoft Windows XP SP2 has tested in many times.

So, Microsoft would not do a trouble thing, or it will be in trouble.

The article's been corrected, have a look :)

Besides, it would be illegal for MS to destroy a component that isn't the property of Microsoft.

It has been rumoured that the boot sector of the OS would be modified rendering the OS unusable.

Apply SP2 crack

Install SP2

Go about your business.

I think thats how most will handle the situation.

When I read stuff like this always know that crack is involved. Either by the users who will be getting around Microsoft’s anti piracy efforts or being smoked by the people writing articles like this one.

Well appparently now, if you try to install SP2 with a pirated key, Microsoft will send a team to your house who will come in and hide your car keys, spit in your yoghurt, laugh at your families photographs, scuff your wooden floors, mis-match every pair of socks you own, and remove all soft furnishings and replace them with splinter-covered orange crates.

Well, thats what I've heard.... :)

To do this they would have to hire a lot of people. Just think of how good for the economy this would be :)
