installation appears to hang :-s

elo.. i came across this site yday and decided to give the unattended install a go!

I made a test iso with the original msn removed, and the latest installed.. that worked fine, ( tested using windows virtual pc).. however i am now tryin to make a full version.. for which the details for the batch_file is below...

My problem comes when installing... i see the attached image.. and it sits there for ages... the useless info on the right side keeps changing, and the little green squares continues scrolling... but nothing else changes... is this doing the below installations or is this not suppose to be related to installing these applications?

Also can someone jsut have a quick glance over the command file incase there is a problem? ive copied the installation files to the folders as given but one i was unsure abuot is norton internet security... ive assumed that its the same as anti virus? but not sure as didnt get a result on my search in forum...

it could be something in your winnt.sif file, but your .cmd file isnt even processes yet, it goes AFTER the setup finishes, & b4 windows goes onto load explorer,

if your winnt.sif file is ok, make sure theirs nothing on your HOST os thats taking up your ram,

3rd use vmware if it doesnt work as an alternative

winnt.sif is as follows. i dont remember making any changes to this other then adding in the last line :-s

even so will remake the file in the same way it was created originally!

spotted one mistake... got "FileSystem=*" in the wrog place( or twice ) so removed it and tryin again as i type ;-)

hi,

it hangs @ T-33, this is wierd as this is right before it installs the network. I had the same issue once and became rid of it with rebuilding the .iso.

rebuilt it... installtion worked... only a few apps didnt!

directX - didnt set the right folder :-s

adobe- said there was already another installation so wouldnt install -- moved it to top?

nero - one of the installations didnt work ( coz directX 9 wasnt there!)

java - changed it. ( that path i got from teh tutorial.. looked wrong at the time but though id try it anyway... changed to

direct x didn't set the right folder? what does that mean?

adobe: probably the other installshield didn't end properly (possible switch problem)

nero with directx?? I cannot see the reason..

and finally with nis I dunno probably its bc of the previous installshield setup as well (not ended properly, ended prematurely..)

I suggest a start over...

try to install with xplode...

and why don't u install directx with svcpack.inf?

for directx9 and media player9, install them through svcpack.inf (using instructions from MSFN unattend guide)... that way they are installed and the computer has rebooted once before it installs any programs..

still, i have never heard of nero not working because directx9 isn't installed... maybe you mean media encoder 9 series? some of nero ultra might require media encoder 9

for adobe reader, use the instructions from MSFN unattend guide to extract the actual MSI out of the setup.exe, it makes for a much easier installation with a less complicated install switch

why do you have nero in there 3 times? i only install nero once using this switch:

and everything in nero works as far as i can tell (using it for at least a month now creating cd and dvd works fine)

i've found encrypted admin password doesn't work properly?

you should really set something for FileSystem (LeaveAlone or ConvertNTFS)

-To just install NIS 2k3 with NAV just use the msi /qn switch.

-But to install NIS 2k3 without NAV I found a ghetto way. Basically just remove the NAV msi from the NIS folder and it will just install NAV. Not fully tested but it did work when I tested the ISO, NIS installed without NAV.

A few things...

first nero have 3 installation files on their web :-s so thats what these three are..

nero.exe is nero63115.exe

nero2.exe is nve21212.exe

and nero3 is NeroMIX14022.exe

From these three.. only nero3 doesnt install silently- i asks for file associations.

Adobe Acrobat - i couldnt find the instructions for the MSI extraction? I do have a file called "AcroPro.msi" in the acrobat folder, which i am tryin as i write this. Also how can i put the serial into this?

WinRar will not register. I have the key, anyideas where to insert it?

Likewise ISOBuster will not register

Java didnt install with the above code. no error no message.. jsut no installtion

Last but not least Norton internet security wasnt installed.. again no error/message.. jsut not installed :-s Do i need to add the two reg keys?

i currently work to find the bug. I fix the bug but i want to know why this appear to many people. I think it's a problem relative to a manipulation with nlite.

for me i found that if i modify system file before reduce and remove protection with nlite 0.96b my iso doesn'T work.

But im not sure if it only this because i found some misterious issues with the drivers removal option.

When your iso seam to stuck and your winnt.sif look ok, try to let's all the driver to see if it work and don't modify too file before used nlite, im not sure but the tool seem to don't really like that.

I will try some other things to see what exactly doesn't pass with the manipulation. (to be sure, not just speculation )
