Running unattend.txt from a CD

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Another question. I want to install WinXP on one of my client's notebooks, but it does not have a bootable network card or a stiffy drive. How the hell do I run the unattended installation from the CD?

Just one notebook? :)

If there is no media to store answer file then you will need to build a custom CD with integrated winnt.sif (not unattend.txt)

It will be much much faster to install it manualy.

Hey I would still like to know how to run the unattend.txt from a CD. I have hundreds of computers I and my co-workers will eventually need to run installs on, and it would be nice to know. Where do you put the winnt.sif file on the CD? And is just putting it on the CD enough? Or is there an ini file you have to add to or what?

thanks. That was my next guess, I tried putting it in the root directory to begin with. Obviously that didn't work. I just tried it in the I386 folder, and of course it works now. That was simple enough. Thanks again.
