I got my hands on a 2gb HD 6450 graphics card today and have tried some of Blackwingcat's drivers with no success so far.  Can this card be used for Win2k or will I have to downgrade to XP for this one?

I once had 6510, the lowest I could get it to work with was XP64 bit (without SP!). In general, ATI/AMD are very fast to drop old OS, so you'd have more success with Nvidia.

Darn, I've got a 1gb Geforce 210 that works fine, but I was hoping for something more powerful.

No, not sure which one to use-last time I tried (with windows 2000 + HFSLIP slipstreamed and the current extended kernel) I had weird stuff happen like VLC media player freezing things up when I tried to play a video.

Well, I don't think 6450 is that much more powerful, those both are bottom feeders. What is the memory type on your 210? If it's DDR3, it's not that slower.

Raw Performance comparison

Pixel Rate

  • GeForce 210
    2.08 GP/s
  • Radeon HD 6450
    2.50 GP/s

GigaPixels - higher is better

Texel Rate

  • GeForce 210
    4.16 GT/s
  • Radeon HD 6450
    5.00 GT/s

GigaTexels - higher is better

Well before I give up, I'd like to give extended core another try-can anyone give me a link to the one that works best with extended kernel with minimal problems?

Did some searching and found the latest extended core, tried installing it and got the same lockups when trying to use VLC, I'm just going to reinstall, install the latest extended kernel and leave extended core out of it-I have a radeon 3450 512mb card I know I can use with BWC's drivers.
