ray5450 Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Printer: HP 882c that has always worked great. I tried printing a document. It does not try to print, but just ejects 2 and 1/2 sheets of paper, and then alarms. If I pull out the 3rd (1/2) sheet and reset, it will do the same again, and again. The document stays in the printer queue list. I have tried reinstalling driver, and checking for obstructions (paper, etc.) Is there anything else I can try to do?

(I have lots of second-hand equipment and your description makes it sound to me like maybe you just acquired this printer from someone making claims.) Test the printer by reconnecting it in the last working configuration. Printers have lots of parts including capacitors. Something may have gone bad. Connect only power and check the manual for how to do self-diagnostics and print a test page. If this fails, recycle and replace. Report back if successful.
ray5450 Posted October 10, 2024 Author Posted October 10, 2024 Yes, for me, for many years, same configuration, same laptop. It was disconnected for only a couple months. There is not much available for diagnostics. A test page does the same as printing a document.

Then the printer needs servicing. Go to HP's support site and look for printer diagnostic software or info on how to interpret the alarm codes.
ray5450 Posted November 4, 2024 Author Posted November 4, 2024 The diagnostic software errors and fails to start. The printer does not indicated any code for an alarm.
