Datalore Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 It's not necessarily through your account, the spammers could be spoofing the send address as your own.
Carmon Posted April 29, 2004 Author Posted April 29, 2004 i know but ive had Email off 6 of my friends wiv dis same email :S Grr Spammers
HyDeNCiTy Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 change ur password.... make it very difficult to get... u also might wanna check ur machine for viruses...
XtremeMaC Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 aaa password? its got nothing to do with password.there are tools to make it look like as if he's sending email. u don't have to sign on to his hotmail account to do that...1 way to check that go to your outbox and see if u sent them, i doubt it was sent from your account.
sven Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 i hate those **** things, at first, they were just send message failure with a virus atached, now their sending me them in zip files.its getting annoying
Doggie Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 i do suggest just making an email account for personal use.. so you dont get spam.. especially if u make your email account name very different.. instead of johncitizen@hotmail.com use like johhny__citizen1983@hotmail.com less likely to get random spam..
XtremeMaC Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 very good advice doggie!now that i have a domain and unlimited email accounts, i've created disposable email acc's. so having multiple accounts do really work. but then comes the problem of having to login to the email so that it won't close your mailbox. therefore i suggest ppl to have a pop account hooked up to their outlook or outlook express. yahoo's pop is nice but not freehotmail works on htt protocol (http) which doesn't let u put rules through oe, which i don't like about hotmail. the other thing about hotmail is its annoyingly slow! and only few MB's. 1 thing to do with pop's. if u're the ones who like to access all of their mail throughout the world, create a folder on your account and don't let your software to dl that folder, but let it dl rest of the folders and emails. this way u'll be able to archive & organize your email better put rules and etc. bad thing about it is if u f' up your hdd your email db might be messed up as well. I haven't run into that problem yet
dinof777 Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 just had same problem, look at the header information in the email. I found the email came from the internal network, one of my machines had a virus. In outlook open email view / options look in header info for anything that might help.
