The forum is not letting me put some links, fortunately write yes I can.
Nor does it let me edit if I add new links. It was good to correct it.

I think we should investigate how is done 16TB HDD support in XBOX 360. Maybe we can do something similar.

they say it very clear : the sector size was increased from 512 to 4096 (4k)

the question then is if the software writes correctly to to sector - or if the firmware on the hdd drive just translate 512 byte sectors to 4k sectors

but hardware wise i dont see the read/write hdd-head even has a such question - it is a wire that is held over the rund disc while the disc and the head moves around

HDDinside-300x189.jpg

windows wise even in user mode it use that overlappended structure (and this one has 32 bit dwords (high and low part) what result in a 64 bit address room)  - drives make a good example why the 4 GB address room limit was already passed , because drives passed the 32 bit limit far ealier

here comes the "pipe" question - a pipe simple says "do move me 4 gb 10 times" - pipe defined

and thats not even what is happening for the hardware it cant move 4 gb so fast the hardware then it limited to like 10 mb/s (and actually need even far smaller pipes)

If you want MBR, then follow George King's patch. The best way is using GPT. MBR has support up to 2 terabytes. Which means, 2 2 terabyte drives. 1 1 terabyte drive.

I have been working normally with this hard drive in MBR mode for more than a year with the oldest adapter USB Logilink AU0028 (without letter "A").
The problem is that the newest adapter versions are only able to correctly detect up to 4 TB.
Examining the adapter inside I see that Logilink is a brand and that the circuit is made by a different manufacturer.
In the past I updated the firmware and the maximum admitted in MBR decreased from 4 TB to 2 TB.
