with the announcement of the end-of-support for steam on 7 is there even a future for other steam like programs on these platforms? or is this the end of the gaming age on these platforms?

Ghetto fix that works for XP is to download the games on an external drive, and then hook that drive up to an old version of Steam running on XP. This will probably happen with 7 if Steam changes the way their CDN works again. Alternatively, you can try Steam emulators from certain forums that are made to support XP (this leans into the territory of warez, which NoCD patches are certainly a thing and are responsible for things like Elden Ring on Windows 7/8 but I won't share any links).

I'll try both when I get the chance. I really want to play Sven Co-op on my XP gaming machine.

Your question is important for all Windows 7 Enthusiasts today and troubling those who play modern games on it or use game platforms.

You might be forced to use offline Physical Copies of games or emulate the Game Platform (e.g Steam) on games that support Windows 7 on but require the game Platform Client. This is though not guaranteed to work.

For online gaming you'll be limited to old versions of pretty old titles such as CS:S/1.6, TFC, HL:DM.

But you never know, a way could be found.

So im using windows 7 right now and the December 2023 version of Steam version still works, sooo as long as valve didnt change things that broke the client, it will still works. (you can also  use vxkex to use the latest version of steam but since vxkex broke for me so i must use an older version of steam) also im new to this forum

A few months ago when I was trying to reinstall Battlefield 4 and Hardline on my system with Steam I kept running into a problem where it would stop downloading at around 70% and never finish. In my search for a fix I found a user on Reddit that also had this problem trying to install Elden Ring on their Windows 7 system. The solution was using SteamRE DepotDownloader to download the game files instead and move all of them manually to the game directory in the Steam apps common folder. Steam will validate them and should finish downloading whatever was missed. My Steam version for reference:
