Last I tried worked was 128 or so. But when I install to Win10, ublock starts working. What's the solution? Anyone? Thanks. 1
mjd79 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) Try to ad this to registry by .reg file. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Policies\Google\Chrome] "ExtensionManifestV2Availability"=dword:00000002 On Chrome 131 under Windows 10, I don't even get warnings about the end of support for Ublock and some other MV2. Edit: I checked on CatsXP 132 x64 (5.1.1)on Windows 7 - UBlock works without problems, there are no warnings about the end of its support. WidevineCDM has also been successfully repaired. joop Posted January 18 Posted January 18 (edited) can someone run newest Firefox on W7/8.1 now? I have found that that someone is successful to run Chromium 115 on Windows XP (and Vista i think) This version is also newer than the last official supported version on W7/8.1, Chromium 109. It is very strange to see the W10/11 UI on Windows XP. It was better that it run with the XP UI in my opinion. CatsXP kernel version 133 beta is out and running on W8.1. Edited January 18 by joop
superleiw Posted January 21 Posted January 21 (edited) The latest versions of FF are not easily moddable anymore. They are now hardcoded to require internal Windows files only present on W10+ The last version that could easily be modded was 132. And there's also 128 ESR still. Alternatively there's also Redfox, which has released a modded 133 but 134 might need a little bit more time. https://github.com/Eclipse-Community/r3dfox https://github.com/Eclipse-Community/r3dfox/releases/tag/v133.0e Edited January 21 by superleiw 1
joop Posted January 23 Posted January 23 They are now hardcoded to require internal Windows files only present on W10+ And it is impossible to import/inject this files? Or rewrite them with another code to fake software? (as rewrite Windows libraries for Linux Wine)
Jody Thornton Posted January 23 Posted January 23 (edited) @superleiw are there any other relatively updated Firefox forks (besides r3dFox), that run on Windows 7 and Windows 8x? I'm mostly interested in ESR 128x Edited January 23 by Jody Thornton

Jody Thornton Posted January 24 Posted January 24 1 hour ago, mjd79 said: Original FF 135b8 on 8.0 Is this using OneCore API mentioned above. (I hope not because I REALLY prefer the Windows 8 UI.) Otherwise I may as well jump ship to Windows 10.
superleiw Posted January 24 Posted January 24 (edited) Well the question now is whether you are willing to share how to do it I'm also wondering if it's possible natively Waterfox G6.0.20 works for W7+ but it seems the latest builds now require W10+ https://www.waterfox.net/download/ There is also "Tor Browser" based off ESR128 that runs on W7+ however it goes through the Tor Network https://github.com/Blaukovitch/Mozilla_Firefox_Windows_7/releases Edited January 24 by superleiw

For 128 ESR you only need api-ms-win-shcore-scaling-l1-1-1.dll from 8.1 and change minimum Major OS Version and subsystem version in all FF exes. This works up to version 132.0.2. How to do in the case of newer versions I will describe another time, I still have doubts that it is 100% stable. Edited January 24 by mjd79
