Ublock Origin Lite (MV3) vs AdGuard MV3 Chromium Extensions

If any forum members would like to verify the reactivation of the Service Worker after the browser suspension (which should be about 30sec by default) of AG AdBlocker v.5.x and UBO Lite this is the procedure I studied.

https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardBrowserExtension/issues/3040

Even though UBO Lite does not have the delay of AG AdBlocker v.5.x it is still subject to browser suspension.
So any ads that you may notice for a few seconds while using the extension are due to this mode of operation.

In MSFN, the UBO Lite slider must be set to full mode.

With AG v.5.0.169 the ads blocker after reactivating the Service Worker works very well.
No change instead for the scriptlets functionality.
But I will not notify this minor problem.

Gorhill has implemented strict blocking in uBlock Origin Lite:

https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBOL-home/issues/214

https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/commit/aa05cb32c6e6b25a29cdb3ade8003ad3b0173883

This implements basic functionality for strict blocking, i.e. the ability to block navigation to undesirable websites. This is a first implementation, which converts only filters that are plain hostnames. Unlike with uBO, it is not possible to know from which ruleset a blocking rule originates. Nonetheless, users will have to make a choice as to whether navigation should proceed or not. A setting has been added to the dashboard to wholly enable/disable strict blocking. It is enabled by default. Potential future improvements, pending investigation on feasability in an MV3 framework: - Extend coverage to explicit `document` filters - Leverage and use `urlskip=` filters in the blocking page in order to proceed while bypassing unwanted redirects.

It's an important first step.......:)

I suspect that the low score on the MotionMark 1.3.1 (also Speedometer 3.0) test of uBlock Origin Lite is caused by a probable bug.
I have opened an issue:

https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBOL-home/issues/261

When this probable bug is fixed I will run the tests again.

Unable to repeat tests, the issue has been closed.

I chose my adblocker to use in edge after June 2025:

Before June 2025

Edge = uBlock Origin + NextDNS
Firefox = uBlock Origin + NextDNS

After June 2025

Edge = AdGuard Adblocker v.5.x + NextDNS
Firefox = uBlock Origin + NextDNS

Ubuntu.com has 2 Google trackers (Analytics - Tagmanager).
Note the difference in a well-known website that also has another trackers (visualwebsiteoptimizer).

In Firefox the 2 Google trackers are blocked by uBlock Origin when enabled:

If you disable uBlock Origin,Google-Analytics is blocked by the browser.

In Edge, Google-Analytics is blocked by the browser, even if uBlock Origin or AdGuard Adblocker is enabled, instead GoogletagManager is blocked by AdGuard-AdBlocker from the custom filter list I use:

P.S.

In this test I disabled Edge's anti-trackers protection and disabled uBlock Origin or AdGuard Adblocker.

The trackers are blocked by DNS.

I only have 2 lists of filters at the DNS level.

It is possible to note that Gorhill has been absent from the development of uBlock Origin and uBlock Origin Lite for 1 month.
His activity in X also ceased at about the same time.

The uBo-specific filter lists have been maintained (but whether in the best way possible is unknown to us) by others.

In contrast, the filter lists of uBlock Origin Lite,in the absence of an updated version, are to be considered obsolete.

I remember Raymond Hill's early conversations with Giorgio Maone who inspired in Gorhill the later development of his extension.
Giorgio is 9 years younger than me,so Raymond is not a boy either.
Time passes inexorably for everyone.

Let us hope that whatever the cause of his prolonged absence, it will soon be resolved.

By now I know by heart the dominant thinking, which does not mean correct, in this forum.

Are you interested in having in the easiest way possible (considering the average user) scam protection in your browser which is obviously independent of the operating system you use, otherwise I would not have included my post in this thread?
