Question About Product Key

Featured Replies

Hello all

This is probably a stupid question but...

I have a Product Key that came with my orginal XP disc. I created a cd slipstreamed with SP1 and did an unattended install and it worked fine.

I created a cd with post SP1a hotfixes and tried an unattended install. When Setup "enters" my origianl key from winnt.sif, it gives an error: "The Product Key you entered is not Valid".

Is there a way to "update" my key or get a new one?

Thanks.

That is odd that it worked with SP1 but not SP1a, Are you sure you are typing it in correctly? If it was black listed it would not work with SP1.

try adding the following under the unattended section in your winnt.sif

[unattended]

AutoActivate=Yes

If you already activated the cd key once, it should give no problems.

If the key is black listed I give it little chance......

hope it works for you.....
