thecavern Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Hi, Lately when I try to rename a document my document folder freezes up. Microsoft website has a HotFix 980382 that's suppose to fix this problem. I went on and requested a copy by giving them my email address. They said it would take about 15 minutes to send it. That was 24 hours ago -- no response !! Can any suggest an alternative fix ?
thecavern Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 I tried again but no response from Microsoft even though there should be. Anyone want to give any further advise ?
Tripredacus Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Re-request and/or maybe try providing a different email address.
thecavern Posted April 16, 2016 Author Posted April 16, 2016 I just requested the fix for the third time using the same email address. Question : why would using a different email address make a difference ?
Tripredacus Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 It would just be to rule out any potential "list" issue or filtering. It could be that your email host is filtering the email out as spam, or that Microsoft won't send to that domain because it is on a blacklist. It is just something to try, to rule out some communication issue in between the sites.
thecavern Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 So I requested the Hotfix and tried it. It didn't work at all. I downloaded it again two more times over a few days to make sure I was getting the correct fix. Once again those they didn't work to fix the problem. They both seem to be some kind of "Zip" or "Unzip" program. So I'm back where I started. The Hotfix from Microsoft is bogus. If anyone has figured out how to fix this without Hotfix 980382 PLEASE let me know.
Tripredacus Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Is your issue exactly as described in the hotfix description? It says this is for folders with (for example) 5000+ files in it.
