MIE 9 -- Updating Settings For LAN

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi,

I started having a proble with MIE 9 a few days ago.

Whenever I tried to use it it would not connect to any web site.

After doing some research, I was able to rectify the situation by going into

TOOLS > CONNECTION > LAN SETTINGS.

I would then click off "Use a proxy server for your Lan...".

The only problem -- there is no "Apply" button.

Therefore, everytime I shut down and boot up again I have to go into

Tools and "unclick" that box again.

Is there another way to keep this setting "unchecked" ?

Another stange occurance -----

A few days ago two new "Shortcuts" popped up on my PC.

They both read "desktop.ini".

I checked the properties of each.

One is "C:\Users\/Public\Desktop".  The "public" one is erroneous since I'm not on a public

computer -- it's my home PC.

There are indeed 2 Desktop.inis. One is in your profile, one is in the public profile. Having them both appear indicates you have set to show hidden system files in Folder Options.

I did figure out the desktop.ini and changed my settings.

In regard to the LAN setting above -- is there a way to "Apply" when I unclick the box ?

Or is there a setting I can update ?
