jaclaz
I have DVD for 2008R2 and keys retail. I dont have media or keys for 2003R2 which i want and which MS is promising as per that link i quoted. Hmmm.http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/hr/hr/downgrade-rights.aspxClick on:Retail CustomersObtaining Product Keys and Media for Previous Versions You'll get: Downgrade Media Kit. Customers who do not have media or product keys from a previous license may order a downgrade media kit of Windows Server 2003 R2 from the Windows Server Fulfillment website. The downgrade media kit will contain a copy of Windows Server 2003 R2 and a product key that the end user may run under a valid Windows Server 2008 license. The downgrade media kit is not a new license for Windows Server. To order from the Windows Server Fulfillment website, a customer will need the product key from their Windows Server 2008 license. The following versions are available:Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition (32-bit)Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 EditionWindows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition (32-bit)Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 EditionNote: Customers will need to supply their own media and product keys for versions earlier than Windows Server 2003 R2. So the question is WHERE/HOW to order today a Server 2008 media downgrade kit. Tripredacus
http://www.microsoft.com/OEM/en/licensing/sblicensing/Pages/downgrade_rights.aspx The reason why you can't get media or keys for Server 2003, it is mentioned in the FAQ (PDF) in the link I posted: However, at this time, neither Microsoft nor Microsoft’s channel partners can provide downgrade keys or media for Windows Server 2003. This is true for both Volume Licensing (VL) and OEM license types. Since Windows Server 2003 is now out of mainstream support, a customer may only use its own previously licensed Windows Server 2003 keys and media when exercising downgrade rights to Windows Server 2003 from a Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012 license. Hi this document is inaccessible for me since im not a MPN. Thanks for this information. This is under Small business licensing from the URL im assuming. The FAQ mentions VL or OEM. What about retail customers who are non Small business?
Tripredacus
The Downgrade Rights Program has the same (end user) rules for OEM, VLK or Retail channels.
