tal ormanda Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Computer plugged into speakers + xbox plugged into same speakers which makes a buzz noise as soon as I turned speakers on and immediately turned off. Is that what a ground loop is? Would that cause any damage to anything from being on for a few seconds?
submix8c Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 1 - Yes.2 - Probably not as long as BOTH weren't turned on simultaneously. Connect only one Power Source to speakers at a time or insert an appropriate switching mechanism.
tal ormanda Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 (edited) Both plugged into outlet but neither computer or xbox powered on. What would be damaged if both turned on, the speaker? Edited April 28, 2013 by tal ormanda
submix8c Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 All kinds of stuff! Maybe even the PC/X-Box!DON'T-DO-IT!!!Connect the speakers to ONE SOURCE ONLY! Period! Did you not see #2 above?Or go ahead and do it! Your hardware! (Don't say you weren't warned...)
Tripredacus Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 A switch box would be enough to isolate them. You can pick them up relatively cheap.
tal ormanda Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 (edited) It was what it was connected at the time its not like that now. Had pc off, xbox on, turned on for a second, heard buzz noise, turned off and unplugged. Edited May 1, 2013 by tal ormanda
