I'm a phone noob. Need to migrate from my Meego-based Nokia N9 to a Google Nexus 4 running Android.

What is the easiest way to migrate my contacts over to the new phone?

Nevermind. Both are *nix so generally follow standards. Just had to figure out where to find and transfer the .vcf files. Silly tain!

I used Bluetooth to move all my contacts between my old phone (Win 6.5 I think it was) to my HTC HD2 running Android. Simple, quite quick and painless.

Before I moved from dumb to smart phone, there was some app that could migrate contacts between phones. I don't recall if it was from the manufacturer or the carrier. Either way, it didn't work. The only way to back up the data was to unlock the data ability on the phone, connect it to the PC and use some sort of program that could read the contacts data. I exported that into various formats, including the one I ended up using, CSV file.

Since all Android phone typically require a google account, I created a google account. Then I logged into Gmail and imported the CSV file to my Gmail contacts. I may have used a format converter between the export and import, don't remember... :(

So then when I set up the Android phone, you sign in with the google account. Then I sync my Gmail contacts to the Phone, and all my old phone contacts came over. Not an elegant way, but better than the old days of writing them down and re-adding them in manually.
