hi! :spaced

its been loke a month or 2 since i get access to windows update........dont know what is wrong, always says that my security settings are too high and they dont i even disable firewall when i try to get the updates......i have try deleting the win updfate folder still cant get access.Any ideas? the only thing i havent done is format and reinstall XP cause system is workin good the only thing is the winupdate access, help please

in internet explorer go to Tools>internet options

click the security tab and then click the "default level" button, next click the privacy tab and drop the bar down to medium or "accept all cookies" then run windows update. after you can put your settings back as they where if you like :)

Try going into your IE Options then Anvanced, click Restore Defalts. Also go in to privacy> Advanced tick overide atomatic cookie handling, accept 1st and 3rd party and tick allow session cookies.

See if that works M8

When you get the windows update site open - even if it says your security settings are too high etc. Click on PERSONALIZE... (will be in the left side-bar) and then click on SHOW WINDOWS UPDATE CATALOG. This should then show you ALL XP Updates ever released. You can select the ones you want to download and install.

Windows Update Catalog - Not recommended for the typical n00b! they could install updates which aren't needed at all and end b0rking up the system!
