in internet explorer go to Tools>internet options

click the security tab and then click the "default level" button, next click the privacy tab and drop the bar down to medium or "accept all cookies" then run windows update. after you can put your settings back as they where if you like :)

let us know how u get on

Try going into your IE Options then Anvanced, click Restore Defalts. Also go in to privacy> Advanced tick overide atomatic cookie handling, accept 1st and 3rd party and tick allow session cookies.

See if that works M8

thanks to both of you but seems like u didnt read at all:

"always says that my security settings are too high AND THEY DONT"

WHAT U suggest i have try it a million of times....besides and not so dumb, duh'

When you get the windows update site open - even if it says your security settings are too high etc. Click on PERSONALIZE... (will be in the left side-bar) and then click on SHOW WINDOWS UPDATE CATALOG. This should then show you ALL XP Updates ever released. You can select the ones you want to download and install.

Good Luck........

Windows Update Catalog - Not recommended for the typical n00b! they could install updates which aren't needed at all and end b0rking up the system!
