vinifera Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 so I'm interested how to disable annoying Blur in win7/SP1I am aware of that little program someone wrote to remove blur, but it seems it brings more troubles than goodsso is there any alternate way ?is this defined in msstyle or directly in DWM ?
ricktendo Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 My guess is you have to patch uxtheme then hex edit aero.msstyles to accomplish this
vinifera Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 hmm, it would be interesting to someone write here which lines to hex and what value
MagicAndre1981 Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 try this:http://pacmani.deviantart.com/art/HideBlur-Tool-for-Windows-7-137636666
vinifera Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 that was the tool I was reffering to but it seems it brings more troubles than goods
vinifera Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 my bad, sorry (only remember it had generic name)
jaclaz Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 next time write the name of the tool my bad, sorry (only remember it had generic name)Do you both realize that till now:HideBlur Tool for Windows 7noone had actually mentioned it's name in this thread? http://pacmani.deviantart.com/art/HideBlur-Tool-for-Windows-7-137636666This small tool disabled the blur of window borders on your Windows 7 RTM Aero - do not try it on Vista or 7 Betas because it will not work! You can include this in your skin packages if you are going to create a skin which looks better without blur (e.g. Borderless skins with only the titlebar - or something which looks just better that way!).I will not answer any questions which are answered in the readme, so read it.UPDATE: found the bug and I updated the scripts, this now should work on every non-english system! actually made a simple to use user interface for this tool: http://kishan-bagaria.deviantart.com/art/Windows-7-Aero-Blur-Tweaker-161702547jaclaz
vinifera Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 an interesting find, unfortunately the tool...(blur tweaker) well screws things up the surface behind transparency gets "overdrawn" like whole thing is software rendered instead via DWM (but is not)and when blur is restored, the bug is not present anymoredunno if this is in-memory patch problem or indeed in windows by default °_°
