forjonny
Can only go to Https sites - only --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Did a spyware scan of a computer that has plenty of horsepower. Pentium 4 2.8 with 2 gigs of ram, Windows XP. Got rid of some spyware and now I can only go to sites that start with https. Anything else is the "Page cannot be displayed" page.Have reset IE8, removed and reinstalled ethernet and wireless card. Did a ipconfig repair, flushdns, registerdns, restarted.Still only https sites will come on and Google's Beta page which is another https. Its https://www.google.com/ Can't go to google classic though.Been googleing this on the Internet to find a fix. Computer otherwise runs fast except for this browser problem.Using Avast antivirus, malwarebytes, superantispyware and have the firewall on.Any ideas? Winsockfix maybe???? Another reset of IE8? Tripredacus
You can forget about the OS-level settings since you are having a problem with the browser. First try another browser (mozilla or chrome based) and see if those work. If they do not, you can look at OS-level troubleshooting. Things to try (troubleshooting only)1. Set Internet security to Low2. If you have a router or cable modem, try to connect to their internal pages.3. Try to restore the Advance Settings button on the Advanced Tab.4. Try going to this link:about:Tabs
