find a device on my network

i have a device on my network, with an ip of 192.168.1.1

it is a linkys router

i can ping it just fine.

how would i go about finding out where on my network this is located.

keep in mind, i have multiple buildings, with multiple switches involved in my network

Would "tracert" command help?

If you have others routers , tracert will help. Else, you 'd have to check each ar ptable of the switchs (only if you can manage them) and check if you see the ip or the mac address of your linksys router.

Maybe the real question here is where it is physically located? Always tough, need a good asset management system.
