grabben Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Even if its possible it cant possibly run smoothly at all..not even laggy..I suggest you use another OS for that computer.
jaclaz Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 As long as it is possible to run XP with 8 MHz & 20 MB:http://www.winhistory.de/more/386/xpmini_eng.htmwhy wouldn't 7 run with 128?Original MS requirements (the ones that you have to at least DOUBLE to have a responsive system ):http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sysreqs/pro.mspxXP:300 Mhz & 128Mb RAMhttp://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/system-requirements.aspx7:1 Ghz & 1 Gb RAMNow:20/128=÷1/6128/1024=÷1/8So, theoretically it shouldn't be possible, right?NO, wrong: AFAIK we are "stuck" at 96 Mb:http://www.geek.com/articles/chips/windows-7-runs-on-a-pentium-ii-with-96mb-ram-20090622/Or maybe at 64 :http://forum.thewindowsclub.com/136774-post37.htmlThe next question is "Is it smart?" (and everyone can answer this one )jaclaz
maxXPsoft Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Know someone myself got it goin on 180mb ram but he disabled almost all the services. he's a linux nut but says he liked Win 7 and it ran ok for him. use what you have, can't knock that.
jaclaz Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 but how to bypass this ????http://www.solidblogger.com/install-windows-7-vista-server-2008-bypass-low-ram-limit/jaclaz
zs123 Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 personally,I consider it useless doing so ... for it's cheap for ramdisk.
