How y can view folders with start with "$" ?

What scares me is, once you can see the "$" folders, what you would do with/to them.

Strangely enough they are hidden for some good reasons.

Can you detail your intended actions, once you can see them?

My suggestion is that you don't really need the $ folders. Instead, you should copy that error in the balloon and do a bit of google searching for real answers.

and clicking Next a few times, but it won't help you much (and besides, it has NOTHING to do with the actual error you got).

Strangely enough , in a few, very, very rare cases, MS error messages actually mean what it is written in them:

Windows Delayed Write Failed

This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection.

Try googling for the above sentecnces, there are several reasons why this can happen, NONE of which afaik actually connected to the $Secure file.

Jaclaz has a point there...

In the past I got that same message when trying to back up an externally

connected harddisk (over USB) to an internal drive (over SATA), I even

double checked whether "Delayed write" was turned off for USB-devices.

Copying the data went well for about 20 minutes, after which that error

came up...

In the end I just connected the external drive directly to a free SATA-port

and copied the data without any problems (it also was a lot faster too)

(...and yes: the drive I tried to backup was that dreadful Seagate 7200.11 one)

Except for this one: C:\WINDOWS\$hf_mig$ That one is essential or you'll break XP.

A little clarification may be in order: I meant he shouldn't meddle with them, I wasn't trying to say he should delete them
