Hi everyone,

I make a Spanish WinPE 3.0 with the Make_PE3.cmd program, and I can't use Chrome because it crash the whole computer and it displays a BSoD:

CACHE_MANAGER

STOP: 0x00000034 (0x000001D5, 0x00000420, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Any idea?

Thanks in advance!

PD: Sorry for my bad English

EDIT: This happens in the real computer and in VMware, with the same stop code:

copying the files over into a stand alone directory should not cause any issues.

My guess, is you are copying over the files to a wrong folder.

Can you give us a link to the version of chrome you are using, and the method/steps of your integration. Then we can actually give you better ideas.

It's from PortableApps.com

From here; it's the version 5.0.335.0 Dev (scroll down)

I've got this in my computer right now and it works correctly in Windows 7, but with WinPE not...

I'll try the stable version.

Thanks!

EDIT: Same thing with stable version!

But the memory is not full when I'm using Chrome in VMware...

I don't think that if I open one page it increases 246 MB of used RAM...

EDIT: And IE8 works...

OK Let me put things into perspective.

My WinPE 3.0 is 168MB and requires minimum 1GB RAM to function properly. This is considering that my PE does more than load itself up, in fact it will boot on a client with 512MB RAM but not do its job properly. For example, it will fail most of the time when deploying Windows 7. With 1GB minimum there is no problem. The larger your WIM gets, the more memory it requires. Remember, the WIM is compressed when you look at the file size, when it boots it all becomes uncompressed and will take up even more space. When you boot WinPE, it loads everything into a RAMDRIVE.

So, as I stated before, increase the amount of memory you are using.

My boot.wim is 788 MB

My size of boot.wim of PE3 with Explorer and IE8 support is only 194 MB.

What did you add to get such large size of 788 MB and why should you do that ?

It is better not adding programs to the build pe3_x86.iso

but to use portable programs from outside of the ISO and launched from PStart Menu.

In this way you have faster booting and use less RAM

and the portable programs can be used on any occasion also when not booting e.g. from USB-stick.

Well, I add Windows Media Player, DirectX, Paint, all the .msc and .cpl, the Resources folder... All from a Windows 7 partition without any other program installed that I created with VirtualPC.

I think that the next time I don't modify the boot.wim file! XD

Thanks!
