chipmat31 Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) I have built a WinPE 3.0 disc following Brian Lee Jackson's build (http://blog.brianleejackson.com/deployment-image-servicing-and-management-dism-winpe-3-0-boot-environment/comment-page-2#comment-1558). When I boot from it however, a Windows 7 installation screen is displayed prompting for language selection. What am I missing? Thanks so much. Edited March 8, 2010 by chipmat31
Tripredacus Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 THe boot.wim you are using is from a Windows 7 install DVD, not the one created by the WAIK.

I Think it is in the windows\system32 folder, but it could be somewhere else. By default when PE loads it looks for the file and runs it automatically if it finds it. Of course if it runs it and you exit out of setup, WinPE reboots immediately and don't get the customized environment you thought you would.
Tripredacus Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I wouldn't think there is a setup in there, then again, I've never used the WAIK so I am not certain what the differences are between that and the OPK Tools.

Is there a way I can determine which file is being called to launch the Win7 install I described in the first post? Do you know of any WinPE 3.0 walkthrough/setup guide that incorporated gimagex.exe? wimb Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 (edited) Thanks so much wimb. How can I create the 64bit registry entries for the Make_PE3\PE3_mod\PE3_reg\amd64 directory?Download latest version of Make_PE3.exe packageFirst Run Make_PE3.exe to Get files of x64 Windows 7You can use then the registry txt files collected in folder Make_PE3\PE3_mod\WIN7_reg\amd64It requires some manual editing to create then files like PE3-SYSTEM_WLAN.reg in folder PE3_reg\x86 but then with x64 values and located in PE3_reg\amd64I know it is some work, but it can be done easily.May be in a week or so I will be able to provide the required x64 reg files in the package,as I will have soon the opportunity to collect the raw material ..... chipmat31 Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Mount the image again using DISM and delete/rename the setup.exe file from inside the image. Of course if it runs it and you exit out of setup, WinPE reboots immediately and don't get the customized environment you thought you would.Sure enough, found a startup.exe file in the \mount directory. Onced I deleted it, WinPE launched as it should. Thanks for all your help.
