ZileXa
Method 2 : Forcely finishing setup by running cmds while the setup0. use vlite and choose Component Cache (winsxs) too1. install the os2. wait the msg to come [ "...windows could not configure one or more system components..." ]3. press and hold shift + f10 to open cmd console4. go to oobe in system32 dir5. run msoobe.exe and make ur user.....after finishing it then run Audit.exethe system should reboot it self automatically if not msoobe.exe progress didnt finish[ http://www.greatis.c...a/audit.exe.htm ][ notice the user creation appear only in windows 7 ]that will end the setup and reboot the osthen update will appear and failed will reboot again and the os will start 6. dont forget to remove $windows.-bt and $windows.-ls from c:\7. use kb947821 hotfix to fix the updatability [ credit goes to aelibey ]Is method 2 still successful method? I have no experience with waik/sysprep or imagex. I have lots of experience with stripping WinXP but none with Win7.Still very happy about WinXP and won't upgrade till win8 (end of 2011?). But I'd like to experiment. Also Win7 has some features (audio) wich make it easier to transport DTS HD via HDMI to my receiver so I might use it on my htpc with xbmc. Photek
I used RT7lite to remove features, and after that vlite to remove winsxs.Surprisingly, the installation never stopped, no need for oobe.exe.KB947821 have been updated august 23. It didn't show up at WU, but can be downloaded:http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=kb947821%20%22windows%207%22Unlike earlier version, this one can be installed manually, just start the MSU. tistou77
I tested by deleting winsxs (cache) with vLite, no problem with the installationI just have a problem (already noted by someone) with the Event Viewer and the "setup"@aviv00The only problem I have is one channel in event log does not work. See images below. Do you have this problem then cheking administrative events?Any ideas how to fix that? Are there any files protected in Vlite?I wanted to delete the file pending.xml in winsxs but I did not (I just reboot.xml)I prefer to delete only this file (finally I understand and if possible without removing the winsxs (cache) with Vlite)thank you

aviv00
ur ini is pretty goodjust services dns client try not to remove itand the services tuning could be problematic[its might connect to event log]so leave it default and try it againif that not working try to use the long method do the vliting after using vmware and capturinganyway i recommend to wait for windows 7 with sp1 so then footprint will be much smallerand less bloated with many dupes files versions Edited October 23, 2010 by aviv00
tistou77
ok thank you it's normal that the folder "winsxs" either 3.33Go after deleting the file "pending.xml (and used rt7lite)?
