I still have the issue, I flashed my bios 3 time with different versions of it, I used all the above patches, I changed my cpu for a sempron, and changed  my ram stick, tried different sizes, but still.... what's the issue, cpu architecture ? The Nforce chipset locking up the windows for something. Definitely not coming from the storage controller, I've tried others ide and scsi pci card, I've tried to deactivate all the bios possible devices, but still..... I know it's far from being the right chipset to use for win 98, but that's all i could get, and it's also the right pci layout I need, the other motherboard with that layout and a chipset are either very expensive or not even possible to find.

Two usual things to insulate problem from scratch:

1. BOOTLOG.TXT

2. Try to load into Safe Mode.

Update on my problem.

Problem solved! I had to install windows 98 with the "install /p i" command that ignores Acpi detection/installation, this helped with all the setups I've tried to install 98 on !
