DavidBulluss Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Hi all, any use me holding on to diskettes of DOS 6.0 and Win 3.1 now that I no longer use them (not for about 15 years, that is)? I didn't know if they are a valuable resource for some people renovating old machines, not that I can see why you would!Cheers,David
Glenn9999 Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 They're a valuable resource if you want to run stuff from that era on modern computers, or have something to play with, or something to show the kids and say "back in my day, this is what I ran". Basically, I'm thinking running them in virtual machines like Microsoft VirtualPC or VMware or VirtualBox.
Zenskas Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Hold on to them! If they stay in good condition, they may be worth something one day as some people would want to remember how OS's developed!
Tripredacus Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Yes, there are quite a few old software and hardware collectors out there. I used to be one myself but I recently lost almost all my old stuff in a flood.
Doggie Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 It would be like binning an Atari 2600 I still have original cases/boxes/disks to many OS's and consoles. Not just for they might be worth something in money, but just a reminder how it all started out
