Tripredacus
I've only used Virtual PC 2007, but the concepts are similar. The VHD is your "Virtual Hard Drive" or where your VM software saves your session data. When you start, you open your VM program and tell it to use the VHD. Then it should boot up like a computer inside the window, but it won't be able to boot into anything. If you can tell it to read from your real CD drive then you can put an OS install disc in there and install Windows (or whatever) into your VM window. Then it saves that as the VHD file you made earlier. I recommend you use your VM in a window and not full screen until you get used to it. The version you have is from before Connectix was bought by Microsoft. I can't find a website with documentation for this version.
