FrankGC Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I downloaded and installed the Vista Codec Package from Major Geeks.I tried to play a small (7420 KB) .AVI file that I received from my son. It was produced with a video camera and sent via SKYPE.The result was the same as before I downloaded the Codec. I got sound but no video.I get the same results with WinAmp.My WMP plays .WMV files OKI have Win Vista Ultimate 64 bit and WMP version 11.Do you have a suggestion for me?ThanksFrank G C
Kotuku Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Quick Google search shows:>>It turns out it was only divx AVI files that I had a problem with. Fixed by downloading the codec here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/The_Codecs.htmYou might also try the other free codecs available here: http://www.free-codecs.com>>However, just blindly installing a bunch of Codecs can screw your system upRead the write up herehttp://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/how_to_play_avi.cfmIn particular the 'Elegant Way sub-heading'Kotuku
