ElAguila Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Anyone else having a problem getting windows sidebar to work in this beta? If I don't try to launch the sidebar I can used the desktop gadget by right clicking and put gadgets on the desktop. After I try to launch the sidebar, the desktop gadget option no longer works.
BigDaddy Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 am not sure but I believe that I have read somewhere that if you turn down UAC then sidebar is broken
wraith36 Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 (edited) if you have the uac right to the bottom or off then sidebar wont work.bring it up by one notch and it works.remember to restart your pc for it to take effect.hope that helps. Edited January 11, 2009 by wraith36

MaelstromXC Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 My sidebar doesn't show up at all. I can run the process manually and I can see process running in task manager. However, there's no signs of the sidebar on my desktop. Any ideas? My UAC setting is the default settings (second from the top). I tried having it on the highest settings, but no lucky. Thanks,MaelstromXC
MaelstromXC Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Hi BigDaddyGadgets on the desktop works fine.
BigDaddy Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 MaelWin7 build 7000 does not have the taskbar. they took it out.if U really want it back you would have to replace some files using Vista's files. Can give you a tutorial if you want?
MagicAndre1981 Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 sidebar is hidden in Windows7. You can place the gadgets on the Desktop
MaelstromXC Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Thanks BigDaddy and MagicAndre. Since I don't have access to Vista, I won't have those files anyways. At least now, I know there's nothing wrong with my Win7 beta install. Thanks again!
