johnhc
Can I modify boot.ini via nLite or another pre-install process? Thanks, John.
ricktendo
Post your boot.ini before and how you want it after, I can probably make you a addon that will edit it
johnhc
ricktendo64, thanks but I am hoping there is a method which will allow me to practice and experiment. It looks like to me that the bootin.ini gets created during install and it may not be possible to modify it directly. Hopefully, the ingredients are in some file I can modify at pre-install. Things like the partition would probably be left to the install process. Thanks again, John.

johnhc
Thanks, DennyMK. I saw that but it does not address the issue of changing boot.ini before installation. John.

Thanks again, John.Dude I can do it and why would you want to change boot.ini BEFORE installation, it can be done during setup Edited December 28, 2008 by ricktendo64
johnhc
ricktendo64, you are correct, it needs to be done during setup, but I am looking for a more flexible method than asking you to make me an AddOn each time I want to try something different. Thanks much, John.jaclaz, thanks for the link. It has possibilities. I will look at at it more. Thanks, John.
justibus
if you use unattended setup, you could try bootcfg with the appropriate switches (use 'bootcfg /?' to find out more; this article is a little short):http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291980this command line utility only comes with xp pro.cheers
johnhc
justibus, thanks. The bootcfg command also looks promising. I am looking at several options now. Thanks much, John.
johnhc
Thanks, justibus, I wrote a small batch file of bootcfg commands, ran it out of WPI and it works fine. Thanks, John.
