Hi, I need a little help! I recently done a full clean install from my original xp disc on a mates old desktop pc. But now when I try to boot it, it will get to the loading xp screen then I get a quick flash of the 'blue screen of death' and it restarts itself! I am totally confused as to what i have done!

I even tried connecting my own personal hdd to see if it was a problem with that and it still does the same thing, any help would be totally awesome!!!

Thanks.

Attaching your own HDD to your friends pc wont work, since it has a different HAL to your own, and so again - XP wont boot.

without further info it is a bit hard to solve your issue, but usually at the XP loading screen crashes are caused by bad drivers, often graphics.

what OS where you using before?

are you aware that your friend will need his own XP license?

what are the machine specs?

did you perform a clean install or an upgrade?

Sounds like either the Video drivers - try a safe mode Boot or from experence a Hard drive on its way out with bad sectors ;)

Thanks alot for all your replies! Tried safe mode boot and it brought up a few lines then restarted. I am quite new to all this and am trying to learn as quick as i can.

If it is the drivers could I just connect my friends hdd to my pc and install the drivers from there?
