Kazuya17
Hey guys,I started using your GUI version about 2 days ago and managed to get an nLite'd XP/Ubuntu and Gparted to install on my DaneElec NoLimits 4 GB stick, though i'm having some trouble installing XP as it does load from boot but it won't detect my hard disk, even after slipsteaming S-ATA drivers, my hard disk is a Seagate Barracuda 200GB 7200.7 (ST3200822AS), it only shows my NTFS formatted usb stick as an installable partition. Though normal installing from Window's XP cd's work fine.Second is that the Gparted loader doesn't boot through as there come up some error's everytime i try it, maybe it's related to the first problem.Tried GParted Live (Default settings)/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off(initramfs) mount: No such devicemount: Invalid argumentmount: No such devicedebug: Mounting backdev "/dev/loop0" (image = /live/image/live/filesystem.squashfs) on croot/imagename "//filesystem.squashfs"mount: No such devicemount unionfs on /root failed with option noatime,dirs=/cow=rw://filesystem.squashfs=roNothing happens after that.Third problem is Ubuntu, short error message saying: Could not find kernel image: linuxboot:Where i used a downloaded ISO from the Ubuntu site and used the GUI to get it onto the usb along with Windows XP and Gparted.Hope someone recognizes this error's and is able to help me out, i really like the idea to boot an installer from usb as it's much faster than cd's and easier to carry. ilko_t
Hi,1. USB install should not differ form such from CD regarding the SATA drivers. Once Windows is installed on that machine, please run this tool:http://www.driverpacks.net/Downloads/save_hwids.exeCompress the output file it will give you, along with TXTSETUP.SIF in USB root folder and attach it in your next post.2. About GParted- use 0.3.6-7 or 0.3.4-8 if you didn't. Will include support for the newest versions in the next version.3. Just a few threads below http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=124169

jaclaz
@Kazuya17Please when posting longish snippets, put them in [ codebox ] [ /codebox ] tags as it keeps the thread more readable. Maybe stupid idea , but can you try with the grub4dos "fake" F6 floppy trick?http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=20543jaclaz
Kazuya17
Sorry, not used to those since my forum i administrate doesn't use codeboxes. I'll try that method when i get a hang of how to use it.

ilko_t
Is SATA controller in BIOS on AHCI/SATA mode or in IDE compatible?Try switching between them.I should have bolded COMPRESS too Use WinZIP, WinRAR, 7zip or similar program, especially with text files compression ratio is huge. Kazuya17
I forgot that i had updated my bios lately, i had some settings adjusted and it ran the setup like a dream. Tough the usb is pretty slow on writing *sigh*, after the first part i ran the second part and i got a "no disc" error, and clicked cancel and continued decompressing my slipstreamed DriverPacks, so i guess its just a matter of a bug in the setup. Now hoping to see my windows popping up.Thanks for the help, don't close the thread yet please so i know for sure when it works ill reply.EDIT: Ran through the setup till half when the pc gave me a BoSD saying something about MEMORY_MANAGEMENT.EDIT2: Rebooted after the BoSD and it continued the setup, after that everything just went neat and completed succesfully. ilko_t
Happy end The "no disk" error- most likely it's because of a card reader(s) you have attached.About the BSOD you got- is the system overclocked? Have you run some memory tests or stability such as Prime or similar? You shouldn't have BSODs, the USB setup shouldn't cause any. Kazuya17
Nope my system is normal factory settings, i didn't bother overclocking cause i know what things can happen when it's failing. Did change my ram lately from 256+1GB DDR to 2x 1GB DDR2, somehow i dont understand that cause i havnt had any errors before the usb setup.System crashed now as of 1 day after working with it. Gonna try getting the usb setup to install again, hopefully it'll work. Edited October 6, 2008 by Kazuya17
