Audio Device on HD Audio Bus

Hi all, I'm having a problem with a driver and have no idea what's happened.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 <insert groans here> wich came pre-installed with Vista. Yesterday, I downgraded (or from my perspective, upgraded) to XP. I managed to get all the devices working bar one, which is showing in Device Manager under Other Devices as "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus". The device status shows "This device is not configured correctly".

I don't understand why there is a problem... I've installed all the drivers for the devices and everything is working (including the audio!). I've also made sure to install the HDA hotfix (KB888111) prior to upgrading to SP3.

As I said, it's not making the system unusable, but it is irritating to be greeted at my desktop with a window declaring that I've added new hardware and asking if I'd like to install the drivers every time I boot up!

Any suggestions would be greatly appeciated.

Thanks in advance

Obviously all the drivers are NOT installed correctly. You have to keep in mind that sometimes audio drivers include other components or ports that require their own drivers, usually wrapped into the proper audio drivers. I'm not quite sure how to determine what the missing HDA component would be, but perhaps looking through the properties of the "Audio Device" could yield a clue as to what it could be.

I had the same problem yesterday, when i installed XP pro on a new computer.

In my case it was a missing ATI Catalyst HDMI driver. It was on the CD, but was not installed by default.

Maybe it's the same problem you are facing.
