EDIT-- I've been able to compile my reg tweaks (or at least most of them) from http://www.msfn.org/board/Help-understandi...gi-t121627.html .

I'm posting up my registry file and .inf file for people to tweak and take a look at. I still don't know how to create the add-on (-_-) ...

Check out http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=80905#80905 for a companion reading.

Heya guys !!

Well, I'm finally going to make an nLite install source :) !!

Now, I have a bunch of registry tweaks that I wish to apply. Unfortunately, I don't know how to or where to start. Can I ask for assistance?

I have some very specific tweaks I wish to apply, and I feel it would be best for these tweaks to be applied after all other integrations and removals: PLEASE: IF ANYTHING LOOKS FUNNY / QUESTIONABLE / OR NOT SECURE, please tell me and I will tell what I want and why :)

I also included 2 registry tweaks (Dr. Web AV link checker for IE + flashpixoff tweak) for adding. I dunno how to add these, so help me out here :S !! For more info on the flashpixoff tweak, check out http://billpstudios.blogspot.com/2007/08/f...roday-fix.html .

Folder Options:

--I wish for the all the folders to default at TILES VIEW. I wish to be able to change it for individual folders after install. Also, sort file by TYPE.

**On the options, I wish to have ONLY these things checked:

-Display full path at address bar

-Do not cache thumbnails

-Show hidden files and folders

-Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)

----(Web page and folders things)

-Show and manage the pair as a single file

-Remember each folder's view settings

-Show Control Panel in My Computer

-Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color

ClearType Tweak

Use tweak from here: http://www.theeldergeek.com/activate_clear...come_screen.htm --> How is this different: Allows cleartype for current user AND on logon pages + all other future users

Enable Clear Type for the Current User

[start] [Run] [Regedit]

Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

Modify/Create the Value Data Type(s) and Value Name(s) as detailed below.

Data Type: String Value // Value Name: FontSmoothing

Setting for Value Data: [set Value to 2]

Data Type: Dword // Value Name: FontSmoothingType

Setting for Value Data: [Change Value to 2]

Exit Registry and Reboot

Enable Clear Type for All Users

[start] [Run] [Regedit]

Registry Key: HKEY_USERS/.DEFAULT/Control Panel/Desktop

Modify/Create the Value Data Type(s) and Value Name(s) as detailed below.

Data Type: String Value // Value Name: FontSmoothing

Setting for Value Data: [set Value to 2]

Data Type: Dword // Value Name: FontSmoothingType

Setting for Value Data: [Change Value to 2]

Exit Registry and Reboot

Other registry tweaks:

Got some tweaks from http://www.computerworld.com/action/articl...tsrc=hm_ts_head :

Add Copy To Folder and Move To Folder options

Copying and moving files in Windows Explorer requires you to open up multiple copies of Explorer and drag between them. There's a simpler way: Add Copy To Folder and Move To Folder options to the right-click context menu.

You'll then be able to browse anyplace on your hard disk to copy or move the file to, then send the file there. To do it:

1. Open the Registry Editor by typing regedit at a command prompt or the Run box.

2. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\

shellex\ContextMenuHandlers.

3. Choose Edit --> New --> Key to create a new key. Call it Copy To and set the value to {C2FBB630-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}.

4. Create another new key called Move To. Set the value to {C2FBB631-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}.

5. Exit the Registry.

The changes should take effect immediately. Now when you right-click a file, the Copy To Folder and Move To Folder options will appear.

Desktop Properties- Appearance Tab --> Effects

Have ClearType checked and Hide underlined letters for keyboard navigation until I press the Alt key checked. All other no checks.

Internet Explorer Options (only want these options):

--I wish for the icons to be set to small icons

-Homepage set to "about:blank"

-Enable tabbed browsing

---Warn me when closing multiple tabs + Enable quick tabs + Open tabs next to the current tab

-Privacy level set to medium-high

-Turn off autocomplete for all fields EXCEPT Web Addresses

-Never check for new versions of stored pages

-0 days of history

-Have Google + Yahoo + Live + Ask + Amazon + Wikipedia(en) search engines

**Advanced options:

-Reset text size to medium

-Reset zoom to 100%

-Auto check for IE updates

-Close unused folders in favorites and history

-Disable script debugging (both)

-Enable page transitions

-Enable third-party browser extensions

-Enable visual styles on buttons and controls on webpages

-Notify when downloads are complete

-Reuse windows for launching shortcuts

-Always underline links

-Use HTTP 1.1

-Send IDN server names

-Send UTF-8 URLs

-Show Information bar for encoded adresses

-Always use Cleartype for HTML

-Enable automatic image resizing

-Play animations in webpages

-Play sounds in webpages

-Show pictures

-Show image dithering

-Do not search from the address bar

-Allow active content to run in files on My Computer

-Check for publisher's certificate revocation

-Check for server certificate revocation

-Check for signatures on downloaded programs

-Do not save encrypted pages to disk

-Enable Integrated Windows Authentication

-Enable native XMLHTTP support

-Turn on phishing filter

-Use SSL 3.0 + TLS 1.0

-Warn about certificate address mismatch

-Warn if POST submittal is redirected to a zone that does not permit posts

-Enable pop-up blocker and phishing filter on all security zones; set pop up blocker to no exceptions

**Please look at included .zip attachment for a bunch of screenshots of what I wish my IE7 security options will be (for ALL zone EXCEPT for RESTRICTED; for restricted, please just set it to high with everything disabled, excluding phishing filter and pop-up blocker)

Firefox 3 Tweaks:

**Make it as close as IE settings as possible. Mainly, just make redirect attempts up to like 2

Used some tweaks from: http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries ---If you see something that catches your eyes on security, please let me know ;) and

network. http. redirection-limit --> Integer -->Determines how many consecutive HTTP redirects the browser will follow. Default value is 20. Setting it to 0 will stop all redirects from occuring.

Note: These are header-based redirects, not (for example) <meta http-equiv="refresh"> HTML-based redirects.

-Homepage to about:blank

-Use small icons

-Show downloads window when downloading a file

---Always ask me where to save files

-New pages should be open in a new tab + warn me when closing multiple tabs + warn me when opening multiple tabs may slow down Firefox

-Always show the tab bar

-Block all pop-ups

-Load images automatically

-Enable Javascript

-Leave the font options at default (times new roman + 16pt, right?)

-No keeping history

-Remember what I've downloaded

-Accept cookies from sites

--Accept third party cookies (I know this is different from my IE setting, on purpose since I have some nice security add-ons)

-Keep until I close Firefox

-Ask me before clearing private data

---have all fields checked for clear

-Warn me when a site tries to install add-ons

-Tell me if the site is suspected of attacks & forgery

-Don't remember passwords

-Leave advanced at defaults

Annnd ... I think thats about it :) !!

Can anyone help me here?

Thanks for you time guys !! :) I really, really appreciate it !!

Note: all other tweaks that I'm going to make are able to be done on nLite (services), so these are the only things I really need right now :) !!

EDIT-

Uploaded IE security zones images for tweaks

EDIT 2-

Uploaded .inf file of my registry tweaks.

Can someone please help me create an add-on of these tweaks?

It looks like you need to snapshot your system before and then after you apply the settings.

Use WinINSTALL LE 2003 for this or RegShot. I have about 20 reg tweaks for IE7 made in this way.

Happy-Dude: I am now going to make you very very very happy.

Simply download X-Setup. Start recording mode, do any tweaks you like, stop recording/export to a registry file.

import regfile with cmd /r regedit /s yourregfile.reg

or any method you like otherwise, batch or inf.

HAVING SAID THAT, if i were to do that, i would first try to verify any registry tweaks im not sure about if is true or not.

ALSO: Remember that registry locations and names may be different from various versions of windows, service packs, and even hotfixes.

edit: if you do this, ill be happy to look over any tweaks if they'r valid or not, or make general recommendations.
