Kindovic
Hi,I just reformatted my computer (because of DEP error) and after installing all the drivers, DEP error again appears after I right click on "My Computer" and selecting "Manage". The error reads "To protect your computer, Windows has closed this program. Name: MMC. Publisher: MS Corp".I did the installation drivers offline as not to be infected by virus. I also have reformatted the whole drive thru the Windows Setup. Is there any solution to this and why does the DEP error message appear? Thanks
JedMeister
I have no idea! Perhaps its not DEP compatible? Surely it wouldn't be a virus if you did a clean install on a formatted HDD without any network connection! I have DEP set to opt-in cause otherwise I reckon its a PITA! IcemanND
Does your computer support hardware DEP? Did you make changes to you install media, removed components, added thing, etc? What is DEP currently set to on your machine in the system properties, and in the boot.ini?
Mr Snrub
What happens if you click Start / Run and enter "mmc" to launch the console without any snapins? If it loads okay, test the following:1. click File / Add or Remove Snap-in2. in the left pane, double click "Computer Management" and click Finish3. click OK
