cluberti
No, this is a localized version of the OS. You can change English versions (via MUI packs) to load other languages, but not the other way around (spanish will always be spanish). This changes in Vista (the whole OS is language neutral), but in XP/2003 and other downlevel clients, localized versions are not able to be changed. Volatus
(A question to those who are more knowledgeable, like cluberti)Shouldn't you legally be able to download an English disc of the same type (i.e. XP Pro OEM if that's what's preinstalled), then use that legally-obtained code to activate the English version? I mean, CD keys aren't language specific... that I'm aware of...?
ricktendo
Your Spanish key should work on English version

cluberti
If only there was such thing as a "legally downloaded XP". If you've got an Open license or MSDN sub, there is such a thing .
Volatus
Well, on that same note, all downloads of XP are legal, far as I can tell. It's the key (license) they may or may not use (depending on if the creator decided to pull an "unattended" on the illegal key), that would be illegal if you chose to use it.As for me, I'm using a legal copy of XP installed from a downloaded XP disc because I didn't have the OEM install CD. So I kinda think that makes it legal... but then again I didn't pour (sp?) over the over-worded and overly-ridiculous EULA to find out. =\ Edited April 2, 2008 by Volatus
