puntoMX Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 1GB is just marketing on that card, hell, I think it can’t even "use" it right.Get your self an 8600GT DX10/x1950xx DX9c and up.
Legolash2o Posted December 14, 2007 Author Posted December 14, 2007 (edited) next week ill have a budget of around £120-130 Edited December 14, 2007 by legolash2o
puntoMX Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3870 512MB Graphics Card on ebay . About £135 incl. P&P. That would be a good deal...
Zxian Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 The fact that it's got 1GB of VRAM doesn't really mean anything. The processing power of that card is still below what you'd get from the 8600GT. 120 quid should get you one of those without too much difficulty.
Zxian Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 @Panarchy - that's out of his price range. The 8800GT would start at about 150-170 pounds...
Legolash2o Posted December 15, 2007 Author Posted December 15, 2007 my other (newer) comp has already got 2 8800GTS's lol, my newer comp spec is below just looking to upgrade my old one but need it to be able to play crysis lol
Zxian Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 The 8600GT will play crysis. You won't be able to max out the settings, but it'll still play it reasonably well. (Medium settings, 2x AA 1680x1050 = 40-50FPS)
ripken204 Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 eh, who cares about the 8500gt, i want to see the 8800gt 1GB!!
Thunderbolt 2864 Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 I rather see the 9800 GTX coming out instead, heard its coming out on February but we'll see.The 8500 GT isn't a very good card anyway, and I don't see 1GB doing to much either.
Legolash2o Posted December 16, 2007 Author Posted December 16, 2007 it has nothing to do with the 1GB, the recommended system requirements for crysis is a "NVIDIA 7800 Series" or better and i thought 8500GT was lol
Zxian Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 The first number in nVidia's lineup is the family of cards (6000, 7000, 8000). The "hundreds" digit gives a general idea of how powerful each card is within that class. Just so there's no confusion. The lettering scheme places the card within the same kind of cards (typically GT > GS for example). The 7800 series cards are much more powerful than the 8500GT that you're looking at. My recommendatation still stands though.
Legolash2o Posted December 16, 2007 Author Posted December 16, 2007 but thought it was better cos the 8500 is a higher number than 7800, thats just stupid lol
