SATA DVD Drives

Recommended Posts

In my experience, several SATA optical drives, no drivers were needed to load and complete windows xp setup. I believe this is because the motherboards are emulating SATA as IDE.
Well, they also work fine connected to controllers running in AHCI mode for me. I have only tried a Vista install from it yet though.

For XP AHCI will not work with the newer chipsets from Intel, but for Vista it’s no problem indeed...

I've got both of my systems using RAID mode (which is a version of ACHI) and both installed just fine from the DVR-212D.
