I use a shortcut on my desktop to keep a dos box close at hand.

Right click a blank part of yur desktop, select "NEW",

then "SHORTCUT".

In the location type: command.com

Click next, then name it wad ever ya like.

Then ya gotta right click that when your done and click properties.

Than select the "Program" tab, and uncheck the radio button to close on exit if you wanna keep it open while your working. While your on the program tab you can change the icon cause that MS Dos icon is still Fugly.

Well thats and old one, but it still works.

If it's a DOS Program ya want to stay open, I think it would be the same thing. Right click the progs shortcut, select properties, then program.....then make sure you UN-Click the radio button that says close on exit.

Now the prog should stay open.

But what do I know...I'm a newbee...but hope it works for ya!!!

Well, to make it clear, i was talking about command-line based PROGRAM, like "chkdsk" or "defrag", "format" etc. The thing is that when you open Command Prompt first (by typing "cmd" or clicking on the link) and then type program name, the program executes and after its finished, you can see program output (defragmentation results for example). But when you type program name right from "Run..." window, it closes right after task is finished.
