aviv00 Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 hey i wanna use ctrl+alt+del to run taskmgr directly without screen that let u choose luck user logoff and ... so onanyone knows how to do that ?thx in advance
ripken204 Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 well that is not the shortcut for task manager.. you can try setting the windows logon to classic view if it allows you to.otherwise use the real shortcut for task manager, ctrl+shift+esc
Idontwantspam Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 ripken, there IS no classic view in vista... a big lament of mine. You can use the policy hide last username and it will sort of ish like the classic logon from XP. But that handled c-a-d in the same manner. Just use Ctrl+Shift+Esc, anyways. It's good to be able to lock the computer, etc.
ripken204 Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 ya i wasn't too sure if it supported it or not, that's why i said if it allows you to. i personally like how the normal ctrl+alt+del is in 2000,XP,Vista. i'm not sure how it was before then.. i have always used ctrl+shift+esc tho so it's not a problem for me.
Idontwantspam Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 (edited) you mean like this?Yeah, so do I. That's why in XP I always disable the frickin' welcome screen. Using classic logon is so much safer, since you can lock the computer and all that. And hide the last username so script kiddies can't break in quite so easily. And, fast user switching IS possible in XP with the welcome screen off. See this page.If before then, you mean windows 9x, it gave you this:And if before that you mean DOS or windows 1-3 then I believe it triggered a reboot. Or, if you mean windows NT 4, it was very similar to what you get in 2000 and xp. Only in english. I couldn't find any pics of it in english...Found one in english: Edited October 22, 2007 by Idontwantspam
deda Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Well, I just right click the task bar and choose task manager, on 2000, XP and Vista.
Idontwantspam Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 That usually works, but what if explorer is frozen and you can't right-click on the taskbar?
deda Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 English isn't may native idiom, I'll try my best.First, I believe ctrl+alt+del is the nicest (a genius idea) thing in the computer history. You have to use both hands to do it, You are ABSOLUTELY SURE what you'll (think on a bc x86) do;Second, today you can use it to monitoring activites on your machine or use it an exception. If is an exception must be treated like one: why happened? I can't see anything else beyond this, it's a last alternative, must rest in peace.
chris.hogg Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 That usually works, but what if explorer is frozen and you can't right-click on the taskbar? What about CTRL+Shift+ESC?
razormoon Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 (edited) This tidbit originally posted by sp00ky1. Create a shortcut on your desktop and give it a target of 'C:\Windows\System32\taskmgr.exe', call this shortcut 'Task Manager' (or anything else you choose)2. After the shortcut is created, right click on it and choose 'Properties' then click on the 'Shortcut' tab.3. Click in the 'Shortcut key' field (it should say 'None' at this point), and when your cursor starts flashing in the field enter the key combination you want to use to start up Task Manager (without the big Vista screen) by pressing the actual key combination to be used. You can't use Ctrl-Alt-Del, but you can use something like Ctrl-Alt-T.4. Click 'Apply' then 'OK' and your all done. Now the next time you hit the key combination you assigned the task manager will start up instead of the Vista choice screen. It's anything BUT ctrl-alt-del! Edited October 24, 2007 by razormoon
