mara- Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 I suggest that you run RyanVM .NET Framework All-In-One Package BETA2 and all updates via RunOnce. Make sure that all-in-one pack goes first.Cheers
cmmcnamara Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Can you help me with that too? Initially I tried using RunOnce but it didn't work. I use RunOnce for the Root Certificate updater, but the other .NET stuff refuses to work.
mara- Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 Can you try to install these updates manually to see will it disappear from WU. Maybe updates are outdated, I did not check is there something new for it.
blitzgp Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 hi all ;pso i cant believe ive been installing and reinstalling windows so many times for the past few years without ever hearing about any program like this ;pfew newbie questions...1st, do i just add all of those files to the nlite run once tab, or is it even easier than that?2nd, how do I add driver files, specifically nvidia graphics drivers that use an exe and include a bunch of files and utilities?3rd, whats the point of downlaoding these other files from ryanvm?thanks for the help
mara- Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 First you need nLite. nLite have page named Hotfixes. You will add all hotfixes on that page (except those which I point that needs to be installed via RunOnce). You will add drivers using page in nLite named Drivers. Before that you need to extract nVidia package to some folder using 7-zip or some other program and then to add it from that folder. And about Ryan things: Ryan packages contain all post SP2 updates, but he did not update his packs almost 3 months or more. So I add to this list his packs and updates that are published after his pack. I hope that you understand now, if not ask again what did not you understand.Cheers
daemonsyn Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Updated until the current date? [Nov 19]I'm making a new XP CD. Thanks for the collection of links. My last updated CD was last Jan.
quyda Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Hi, I have a small questionI downloaded your "Microsoft® Windows® Malicious Software Removal Tool addon (November 2007)" (1.35)Now I would like to be able to update it myself to 1.36 (and later)How can I do that? Thanks,Quyda
MrPhred Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Thanks so much. This is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. A lot of the links are broken though. I'm not sure exactly which ones to use with nLite, but maybe I can help track some of them down. Here's the ones I was planning on using as well as some I was unclear about:Definitely: - RyanVM Update Pack * Version: 2.2.1 * Website: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5967 * File Name: RVMUpdatePack2.2.1.7z * Hash: E873111B7288BD0DE5FFF080B3091E43 ~ KB902344 left out because it is a non-critical Windows Media Play 9 update. ~ KB902344: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902344/en-us - Nico's DirectX 9.0c November 2007 AddOn * Version: 0.3.4 * Website: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5239 * File Name: DirectX_9.0c_November_2007_AddOn_0.3.4_-_CNC.7z * Hash: 63D22EC597877E03E566978190DEFA96 ~ This addon countains only DirectX 9.0c files; no DX10 files are included. - MrNxDmX's IE7 Addon * Version: 1.0.9a * Website: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4289 * File Name: NR_IE7en_Addon_1.0.9a.7z * Hash: MD5 B5153A415F18486C44DB3BA7C93EB539 ~ Not yet compatible with RVM Integrator 1.5. ~ Alternative: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4847Not sure what file to use: - Java SE Runtime Environment V6.0 Update 4 * Version: 20080126 * Website: http://www.doitrightconsulting.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=132 (forum members only) * File Name: ? * Hash: ? ? Use Switchless Silent Installer or ScriptPack Addon?Could not find the WGA one. Not sure what that is for to tell you the truth. Windows Genuine Advantage? Not sure what the Root Certificate Update or Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 6.0 and Service Pack 1 (KB933579) are for either. I'm interested in knowing though. And I only want to update to WMP10 (I don't like WMP11), but I'm not sure where to find an addon that will work with the current version of nLite. Anyone know of one with all the relevant hotfixes included?I guess if you wanted to be complete about things, you could include the driver packs too. I just use Lenovo System Update, so I don't know about those.I was initially going to add all this using the newest version of RyanVM Integrator (v1.5.1), but if I can do it all just as well with nLite, I would rather do that. (MrNxDmX's IE7 Addon says it isn't compatible with the newest version of RyanVM Integrator yet, so I might have had to use NonnoFabiao's located here: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4847) I think I will still have to manually add RogueSpear's Runtimes - Part 2 to RunOnceEx either way right? Thanks again. Great thread. Just what I was looking for and just in time.
mara- Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 Thanks so much. This is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. A lot of the links are broken though. blushing.gifYou are welcome. Non of the links are broken. If you are referring to RogueSpear's addons you need to register on his page.Could not find the WGA one. Not sure what that is for to tell you the truth. Windows Genuine Advantage? You could nor find it? That is RyanVM WGA Addon 1.7.18.7a in first post.Since you are not sure which IE7 addon to use, I recommend you not to use any of it. Use nLite to integrate IE7 directly into source. This will save disk space and time of installation will be shorter. And I don't want to include DriverPacks. I only put on the list what shows on Windows Update.Cheers
MrPhred Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Okay, I'm a little closer now. I just have a few more questions:1. What is the Root Certificate Update for? I tried searching Google, but most of what I found was very confusing.2. I am a little confused about how to integrate .NET 3.0. I will be using RogueSpear's Runtimes and RogueSpear's Runtimes Part 2. I'm fairly certain, you can just integrate the first part with nLite like any other addon. Just put the 0_RogueSpearsRuntimes.exe in the "hotfixes and addons" window. For the second part, I know you have to integrate it using RunOnceEx. I'm also planning on using the script pack (not all of it). Do I just add the ScriptPack_V107.rar and the ScriptPackAddonsRogueSpearsRuntimesPart2_1.5.0.zip to the hotfixes screen as well and this will take care of it?
ccl0 Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 this is a really good guide.. however i'm curious about this: Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 6.0 and Service Pack 1 (KB933579)up until today i've never heard of Microsoft XML Core Services before. so i looked online and read about it.. and still no idea what it is or what it does. i then looked on my computer and its not installed there.. so i'm thinking that maybe this should be optional? also, redxii updated the dx9 addon to march 08 http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6010

Does it matter what order you do this stuff in or should it work regardless? Edited March 12, 2008 by MrPhred
mara- Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 About MSXML: LinkWhen I integrated latest RyanVM pack this appeared on WU so to get fully update Windows you need this and it is not optional update. And thanks for pointing on updated DirectX.Cheers
