sam13484 Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 (edited) In a choice between two systems with the only difference being that one has a Pentium D 945 @ 3.4GHZ, and the other has a Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4GHZ, what would be the better choice? FYI the graphics chipset is the Intel GMA 3000 in both cases. No high end games to be played on these. And both would be running XP. Thanks for any input on this. Edited September 9, 2007 by sam13484
bonestonne Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 E6600. Pentium D's are limited to an 800mhz FSB, E6600 is using 1066mhz FSB. along side that, the E6600 is a much more up-to-date processor, lower thermal dependancy, etc and so forth.clock speeds mean nothing. bus speed, thermal dependancy, and CPU technology are what matter.
Zxian Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 The E6600 will kick the pants of the P4D chip. Any day, any program.
weEvil Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Depends on price. If you can get the D945 under ~$60 then its a good deal.Otherwise E6600 all the way.
nitroshift Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 E6600 hands down. Don't even think twice!!!
puntoMX Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Depends on price. If you can get the D945 under ~$60 then its a good deal.Otherwise E6600 all the way.In this case it would be a HP I presume, and those 2 systems have the same price aprox..
