Hi,

I've been running Windows 2003 Datacenter SP2 and I think it's the best OS I've used so far. Everything runs great, except for... games. I just can't run any game, old ones, new ones. Is there any trick on that?

Thanks,

Rebêlo.

nitroshift, are you sure you're talking about datacenter edition? because even 'converting' it to a workstation, I still couldn't run games. It's datacenter, not the Standard edition of 2003, which runs perfectly fine with games and all. Thanks!

do u have the graphics acceleration turned up to full. right click desktop>properties then settings tab advanced>troubleshoot. if hardware acceleration not turned up then no games will run.

Maybe they did something to it to prevent it from running games. After all, it's meant to be a server OS, and most datacenter servers aren't running games. ;)

Just ENABLE video and sound hardware acceleration, DirectX's DirectDraw, Direct3D, etc. and your games are good to go.

Include sound hardware acceleration, Run =>dxdiag go to Display and Sound tabs, enable all accelerations.

I'm using Win2003 Enterprise SP2 and I am playing Civilization III & IV, Command and Conquer, Starcraft, Sims, Grand Theft Auto, Windows Solitaire, Winmine, etc. Nintendo emulator ZSNES, etc... etc.

What I'd like to know is why you paid THAT much for a Datacenter license just to run it as a desktop OS? I'm also sure it has some specific code in it for doing the duties it's designed for. As a matter of fact, some features that are included with the Standard and Enterprise editions are either partially included or aren't included at all in Datacenter.
