August 29, 200719 yr But, what caused the problem?Did you copy or delete files, before it happened?Explorer is known to lock resources during large file operations. With IE6 installed the locked resources are not released, and the system becomes unstable. With older IE versions the problem is less annoying, as the resources are released, after a while. August 29, 200719 yr Author well i installed win98 service pack n autopatch.but i added 512 mb plus video mem is 32mb which i cannot increase i mean my machine does not support it

Is it Win98 first edition (4.10.1998) or Win98 second edition (4.10.2222)? right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop and select Properties to display the version of Win98.
September 7, 200718 yr Please try FreeRAM XP Pro from here (freeware) and keep an eye of resource usage, see which application or service is decreasing your GDI resources.
